About Jeff Gerak
Jeff Gerak was raised in Detroit, Michigan and attended Wayne State University in the heart of midtown Detroit. He started his journey in practical shooting in 1990 by attending competitions with his father and older brother at Livingston Gun Club (LGC). Even at a young age, he was very passionate about the spirit of competition and the comradery amongst the fellow shooters at LGC.
In his early years, he competed in practical shooting in USPSA and 3 gun, along with bowling pin shooting at the famed Second Chance in Central Lake, Michigan. Over the years, he has concentrated mainly on handgun in USPSA and refining his skills. He achieved his first M classification in limited in 2002 and reached the ultimate goal of GM in 2014. Jeff is a multiple time winner of the Michigan Sectional Championship in Limited with his most recent victory coming in 2017.
Jeff’s other passions within USPSA are trying to work as many matches as possible, in the belief that the sport can’t exist without it’s hardworking volunteers. He has been a certified range officer (RO) since 1996 and a certified chief range officer (CRO) since 2015. In 2013, Jeff started the Ryan Rocks Charity Blast and has continued to MD this level II match every July since. Ryan Rocks has grown to become the largest match at LGC, where over 200 competitors attend every year. The Ryan Rocks Charity Blast is the single largest fundraising event for Ryan Rocks Outdoor Adventures.
Jeff is a pharmacist by profession, licensed to practice in the states of Michigan and Pennsylvania. He has spent most of his career practicing in the field of oncology within the Detroit area. He and his wife Carla have been happily married since 2004 and have 3 children together, Noah, Sonia and Nathan.
